Check-in 4 Charity is a program designed for companies to make a difference in lives with the help of their customers or patients. Happy Thanksgiving

The Thanksgiving holiday is upon us again, and it is one of our favorite times of the year. It gives us the opportunity to be surrounded by family and friends, and appreciate the things in life we may sometimes take for granted. We are fortunate to have an amazing group of people on staff and as patients and for that we are truly thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving from your friends at Quest Johnson Orthodontics.

November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month

Did you know November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month? This gives us a chance to learn more about Epilepsy and spread the word about organizations that bring awareness to the disease and promote research for a cure.

Epilepsy is defined as a “neurological disorder marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness, or convulsions, associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain.” (Oxford Dictionary) According to the Epilepsy Foundation, Epilepsy is the 4th most common neurological problem in the nation. Over 150,000 new cases of epilepsy are among us every single year, and an estimated 2.2 million people are affected by epilepsy in the United States.

In 2003, Congress passed a formal resolutions declaring November as National Epilepsy Awareness Month, though the Epilepsy Foundation has been celebrated this since 1969. Find out more about Epilepsy and how you can help or donate on their website!

What's the Right Age For Orthodontic Treatment?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that an orthodontist first see a child as early as age 7 and even earlier if a problem is discovered by a parent or the family dentist. The timing of orthodontic treatment is extremely important and greatly affects the treatment result. Since no two patients are alike, there is not a specific age that is best to begin treatment.

Early diagnosis and treatment by a specialist can help guide facial growth and tooth eruption, and prevent more serious problems from developing. Our goal is to reduce treatment time in full braces and to provide the best and most stable results possible.

Adolescents that show signs of misalignment of teeth or a dysfunctional jaw or bite are strong candidates for care. It is very typical for adults, no matter what age, to experience rotation or misalignment of teeth.

For more information regarding orthodontic treatment, contact Quest Johnson Orthodontics at our Mooresville or Elwood locations.

It's National Orthodontic Health Month

We all know October is the month of pumpkin spice and everything nice, as well as tricks and many treats, but do you know what October means for us at Quest Johnson Orthodontics? It means celebrating National Orthodontic Health Month. This month, our team and other orthodontists across the country, come together to promote orthodontic services and health tips to inform local communities about the importance of orthodontics.

National Orthodontic Health Month was planned to help increase awareness about taking care of teeth beyond your general dentist, as well as stressing the importance of taking care of your teeth properly when being treated with braces. If you have any questions regarding orthodontics that you have yet to find answers for, contact Quest Johnson Orthodontics as we are pleased to help you. This is a great time to get your questions answered by our staff of professionals.

If you have never been to an orthodontist before, despite your age, now is a great time to have an orthodontic evaluation exam. Also, children age 7 and up are encouraged to do so as advised by the American Association of Orthodontists.

For more information about orthodontic health, or how to care for braces, give us a call or post them on our Facebook wall!
